Ralph was fantastic! He interacted with everyone in a personal way and made the tour great!
Both last nights tour with Ralph & Ali and last weeks with Joanna & Cesar were excellent. We saw more than we could have done any other way and more importantly understood more of what we were looking at ...

DID YOU KNOW?

Historical and unique facts about Washington, DC – brought to you by USA Guided Tours

Fact #1  21 Jump Street

Did you know the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has a museum in Arlington, Virginia? The DEA plays a key role in tracking, regulating, and, in some cases, preventing pharmaceutical and drug trade involving the United States – we’re talking “El Chapo” down to the cough syrup in your medicine cabinet. The DEA Museum and Visitors Center, opened in 1999, offers free admission and educates visitors on the history and consequences of illegal drug use in America. The museum also holds more than 7,000 historical artifacts and images related to drugs and drug law enforcement.

Fact #2  Glorious Technicolor

Did you know there is a technicolor church in DC? Yes, an entire church vibrantly muraled in assorted colors and patterns, both inside and out. The historic site, formerly known as Friendship Baptist Church, was originally white and dates back to 1875. In 2012, after decades of abandonment, the city commissioned Atlanta’s Alex "Hense" Brewer to revamp the structure. You can find this beautiful gem located at 700 Delaware Ave. in Southwest DC.

Fact #3 – Quite a Stretch

Did you know the seventh-inning stretch originated in Washington, DC? In fact, we have President William Howard Taft to thank for this tradition. T’was on April 14, 1910 as the Washington Senators played the Philadelphia Athletics at Griffith Stadium in Washington. DC. After sitting for a long period, 6’2, 300-pound President Taft stood up to stretch midway through the seventh-inning. The entire crowd consequently rose to their feet as a show of respect. On this day, Taft also became the first US president to throw the first pitch.
